Fall Fishing Report
October 20, 2019The Fall weather has been great and the fishing on the lakes unsurpassed. Large Cutthroats are hitting everything, Streamers, nymphs and dries.
Swan River
The river level is low
The level of the river is low, but, the temperature is maintaining in the mid 50 range.
Water is dropping like a rock
The water is dropping like a rock making the target areas easy to spot. Insect hatches are regular and fish are feeding on top.
Water is clear and stable
The water is clear and stable, the hatches are prolific and predictable; fishing’s GREAT!!
River rising and stained
A sudden rain has brought the river up and stained it a little. Along with the storm we fought wind and cold. Still some nice fish could be taken like this Brook Bull cross.
Flathead River
Pale Morning Dun Mayfly steady action
The Pale Morning Dun Mayfly has caught the fishes attention on the Flathead and being there at the right time of day equals steady action!
Northern Pike on the Fly
Northern Pike explode on the fly, rip line off the reel, make several runs and fight all the way to the net. These predators need not be huge to make great sport for the fly fisherman.
