Matt has been an avid fly fisherman from an early age, and has fished extensively from Baja to Florida, and much in between.  He first came to the Flathead Valley in the early 1980’s.

For the past 21 years, he has operated his business, Crane Mountain Guide Service, and has enjoyed a peaceful existence in Bigfork, Montana with his wife and two children.  One of the most rewarding parts of his business is being able to show newcomers to the area, offering a personalized service to fish and experience beautiful Montana.  With a strong following of locals as well, Matt thoroughly enjoys taking his return clients to their favorite destinations year after year.

Matt takes pride in focusing on fishing the area.  From spending most of his time in the waters of the Flathead Valley, he knows that when fishing for trout is out, bass or pike are better options.  The local fishing guides who work for Crane Mountain Guide Service are of the same mindset – all of whom are extremely knowledgeable of the area and the different fishing opportunities.  All levels of fishing experience are welcome, and everyone at Crane Mountain Guide Service enjoys teaching fly fishing with passion and patience.
